Byrd Ssebuliba is a senior associate with the firm and specialises in litigation, representing clients in general and commercial matters. He also handles clients’ matters involving tort, electricity, labour and construction disputes. Byrd provides corporate and governance services to a number of clients.
His working experience, both administrative and legal, spans over 36 years working for institutions such as Uganda Development Bank as a Legal Officer, Produce Marketing Board as Deputy Board Secretary and Civil Aviation Authority of Uganda as Manager, Administration and Supplies.
Byrd acts as company secretary for a number of local and international clients. He holds a Bachelor of Laws Degree from Makerere University and is licenced to practice in the courts of Uganda. He is an active member of the law societies of Uganda and East Africa.
- Acted for a major coffee producing company in a case involving misappropriation of funds amounting to close to US$1.5 million.
- Acted for a client in a matter involving cybercrime where close to US$60,000 was transferred to a bank in China on the instructions of a supplier of coffee to our client.
- Advising a large electricity provider in several litigation matters involving claims arising from disputes with land owners, electrocution and breach of employment contracts.
- Advising an international holding company in the winding up of four associated companies.
Advising clients in obtaining tax exemption status in the formation of the primary companies.
