Justice Porter is a solicitor (England and Wales) and an Associate member, Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, U.K and Kenya. He served as a Puisne Judge, High Court of Kenya, 1982 and High Court of Uganda, 1992. He also served as a technical advisor to the Uganda Law Development Center from 1958-1996. The Uganda Law Development Center is the only licenced institution to train lawyers seeking to enter legal practice in Uganda. He is regularly sought out as a legal consultant for the World Bank.
